Frequently Asked Questions

Is 10 days enough for Thailand?

Yes for a first trip covering one city, the north and one beach. Adding a second island would need 14 days.

Should I fly or take the train?

Fly between cities. Internal flights on AirAsia, Thai Lion and Nok are ฿800-1,800 and save 12+ hours over trains or buses.

Krabi or Phuket for the beach leg?

Krabi (Ao Nang or Railay) is more scenic and quieter. Phuket has more flights and nightlife. Both work in 3 days.

What about Koh Samui?

Samui needs an extra travel day from Bangkok. Skip it on a 10-day trip unless you cut Chiang Mai.

Best time to do this route?

November to March. Both the north and the Andaman coast are dry. Avoid May-October on the Andaman side because of monsoon.
